Our goverment in Connecticut is trying to pass a law stating that the drinking age should be lowerd from 21, to 18 to stop the underage drinking. Well i think they're doing this to get our state troopers work to do. Since you dont see them like you used to. I think its a bad idea, what do you guys think?

The same thing is happening here in Colorado. It's never going to be passed. Set the limit at 21, you have underaged drinking. Set it to 18, kids are still drinking.
If you make something off limits, the higher the chance there is someone's going to do it to spite the system. But if you change it so that you can drink at an earlier age, it's encouraging those people to drink.
It's a lose-lose situation really in a political view. Meanwhile for college students it's a win-win situation, since they're already drinking, might as well make it legal."In matters of style, swim with the currents... in matters of principle, stand like a rock."

With the way kids are crashing while texting, I could only imagine the consequences if 18 year olds were given the go ahead to drink. Not that adults don't abuse the privilege but I think the fatalities would double if the age was lowered. If I can remember way back when I was 18...well, I can't remember back that far.

Re: Baddest idea EVER!!
well, it makes it so that nearly every underage drinker still lives at home, where it is MUCH harder to drink illegally.
I personally say it's a good idea...look at data of all the countries who have it at 18...I wouldn't be surprised if their accidents and cases of underage drinking are LOWER.
