    Re: Israel talk continued...

I guess my response to you poop would be if you lived in a country where you had virtually no rights, where even if you wanted to revolt your only weapons would be sticks and rocks versus an actual military, where you saw 10s or maybe even 100s of thousands of your fellow citizens murdered for nothing more than their race or religion, and where you worried that you might be next would you sit by and say, "we can handle this," or would you hope and/or pray every day and night that someone, anyone would come and help?

As for the WMDs I don't have any concrete answers, and neither does anyone else. We can speculate that they had them, had the stuff to make them, moved them, destroyed them, or any other theory people have. People may not believe it, but go back to early 2001, and if I told you a bunch of guys were going to hijack 4 planes and crash them into buildings you wouldn't have believed that either. The bottom line is Saddam had an agreement with the UN that he would do A, B, and C, and he did none of them,, so the UN should have nutted up and called for action, but they were too chicken S, so we did what they should have.

It's in our best interest to maintain foreign allies. A primary reason is that foreign allies give us real estate to stage troops and equipment, build supply routes, airstrips, etc. Without those things all we can do in quantity is bomb from above. That's ineffective psychologically.

War isn't a real threat to the enemies until some of their women and children start hugging on U.S. soldiers. Once the enemy combatants see that then they begin to understand that they have lost their families' and neighbors' confidences. The combatants then have to beat us, or join us, or learn to get along on their own, or something. It takes time, and the U.S. needs to be on the ground. Hence, we can't turtle up over here and "hope" nothing happens.

    I didn't know that.

So it also helps to have allies becauase they can provide raw materials. Like carbide and GASOLINE

My family owns a production machine shop. Everytime an endmill or an insert is ordered in the Carbide form which is the most efficient material for production machining, it says "made in Israel" on the box or tube. I have NEVER seen any other countries name on it. Sure, all countries have businesses involved in the manufacturing process but most people use tool steel or cold rolled steel.

Ahahah. I started to write a post and then deleted it.

My theory and question was this: Israel is an important defense equipment supplier to the U.S. To the GIs, how much equipment do you see that is labeled "Made in Israel"?

I didn't know what the answer would be so I didn't ask it. But what the heck. Let's see if anything interesting falls out.

Rooster, you and I don't often agree on a lot of stuff. But this time I agree whole-heartedly.

Israel doesn't seem to provide much strategically. What is our benefit to whole-heartedly, dare I say blindly support? If anything, it seems only to piss off not only our other allies but those that ,like it or not, we have to deal with.
