10.5 inches of rain in Michigan from Ike!

You guys near the oceans or major rivers might be used to this, but us rural Midwesterners have never seen flooding like this! We had 10.5 inches of rain in 2 days. I had to dump my pool 3 times for over 30 minutes each time. Never seen anything like it. I can't imagine the flooding if you actually were near the storm.

don't keep draining your pool during storms like that...it only keeps refilling. it's a waste of time.

Just let the damned thing overflow...and it'll slowly drain itself....it might seep over the edge, but if you had a semi-intelligent company install your pool, the landscape and design will take that water away no problem.

Trust me...I just went through this when Ike made landfall :-P our pool was overflowing for the past 3 days....just yesterday did it start going down.

I thought about that, but my pool company says that the bead at the top of the liner (my pool is an inground) isn't designed to be submerged. Water can get behind the liner and rust out the walls or wash away the base.

our's is an inground...that was installed in '82......and it's just fine.

I'd talk to them....for one, what happens if you have a bad storm like this and loose power? the gravity leveler/drain isn't going to work fast enough...

Maybe make them come reseal it with something more water-resistant??
