Re: Bring on the FIOS - we want the faster connection
For example like here in Houston folks are getting on two situations, 1 because they have the level of service or 2 because the area is highly competive but they get 16 mbps down and 2mbps. Then on DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Standard roles out. That will get doubled at on the download speed which is the more important of the two, also the new ultra speed tiers are coming already like in Minnesota 50mbps down/5mbps up & 150mbps/5mbps which I mean in the 10 years the BROADBAND AGE has been happening is awesome. I remember i thought 2mbps/128kbps was fast back in 2000.

Re: Bring on the FIOS - we want the faster connection
The phone company was starting to lay down Fiber like mad in the 90s to replace the copper line. then some dick head screwed it all up and figured out how to pack enough data into onto the copper lines for "high speed" net connections.
Once they started selling DSL the rate of fiber being laid slowed way down and here we are still stuck with shitty copper based connections...
If you dont have Fiber yet, blame the guy that invented DSL.

Upgrading to fiber is a huge project and costs huge amounts of money - if you dont have it now, dont expect to have it anytime soon unless you can look out your window and see contractors actively laying lines.
you best bet to have access to fiber is to find a community that is extremely new, like being just developed and having everything run in fresh and new including the phone lines. This cant just be the new subdivision down the street, they can just plug it into the shitty copper already run close by, find the new area with almost no development and look there.
