It's not college doing it to them. Its the Daily Show and the Internet Generation's 30 second attention span.

You have a point there, but is the alternative all that great? The only way to have no enemies is to either kill them all, or be such a huge threat no one will fuck with you.
I have always maintained that the only way to have peace is to kill everyone that has a problem with peace. Not threaten to kill. Not kill half of them. Not kill 90% one day, and then do nothing for a year about the last 10%.

Is it tolerable to hate peace? Does that promote, or discourage peace? Are we being intolerant for not tolerating those who hate peace?

You're just making excuses. And though you're right....assholes alwasy will be born....that doesn't mean they'll be able to be in power. Most especially if the people they try to deceive actually see true hope and faith that we can and will help them. Right now, it's just too easy for the opposition to say "America is weak, look what they did in Afghanistan. Look, Obama is going to leave Iraq. Look, everyone hates George Bush, so that must mean Bush is wrong." Because they hear that.....they must accept their fates.

And I say fuck it. I become president, and I call every world leader to the UN, because I can. Those that don't show up get arrested/kidnapped/coup'd, and brought there. And we start naming names, and solving problems. They don't like it, then we create a new government, like we did in Japan, and Germany, and South Korea, and now Iraq. And we obliterate anyone who has a problem with that.

National sovereignty applies to actual nations, with laws and rules and social contracts and diplomacy. Not for dictatorship and ass faces. Those guys die, and their people get a new goverment. Otherwise, if you refuse to "violate their sovereignty", you are simply accepting that what they are doing to their people...in somalia...in liberia...in darfur....in sudan....is ok. And in their eyes...you support it, because you have the absolute ability to prevent and resolve the conflict....but you choose to do nothing about it.

    That's why people hate us.

You have a point there, but is the alternative all that great? The only way to have no enemies is to either kill them all, or be such a huge threat no one will fuck with you. We can't be both compassionate and too scary to mess with; so long as our enemies know that we can show even a bit of mercy, they will still attack us. The alternative is to be like the USSR. We could be the super power that no one dares mess with, but that undermines our whole stance.
this doesn't make any sense. We are compassionate to those who deserve out compassion. The innocent Iraqi's and Darfurians and Somalis and North Koreans. But we must be totally intolerant of their leaders, governments, and military activities. Are you saying we'd be too "harsh" going in and saving the Darfurians from genocide? that somehow....we are being "nice" by not doing that? Surely not. But that is the point you are making.

We are seen as indifferent and unwilling by most of the world. And our enemies use that to prop themselves up. "America doesn't care about you, so let's go kill americans". Worldwide.

I watch the daily show, and I live on the internet. And I can handle the issues. so what's the difference between me and them?

    I'm not even 30.

back to the topic........ If I was sarah palin, I would have worn a thong or nothing at all. It's bad form to have panty lines on national television.

or am I the only one that noticed?

or....do you think it was some karl rove tactic to win voters? Some republican trickery to sex up the white house? Devils.....

I disagree with that. I see compassion and might as different sides of the same coin. Compassion shown on one side means support for might on the other. The people that you show compassion to will support you in the fight against those that would try to take that compassion away.

No you weren't. I don't think Sarah cared either way. She's hot with or without. Even better she's a damn sight better choice for VP than Biden.

When it comes to Palin, Biden *cough* pales by comparison. :6

    Re: Vp Debate!

Personally I thought both candidates did well. Biden I thought would make an ass of himself, but he did great. Palin I thought got screwed by the liberal media before this debate, but held her own and was probably the more exciting of the two to watch.

Unfortunately it will be tough for McCain/Palin to overcome the current situation in the US and win. They really need to spend time on the next debate differentiating themselves from Bush and letting the people know how they will be different. That should equalize Obama's "change" direction and give them a better shot at winning.

To me, issues of abortion, gay marriages and things of that nature are not as important as national security and staying away from big government and socialized healthcare. As I sit here today, a more independent voter I still feel safer and agree more with Mccain and Palin than I would with Obama and Biden. Obama saying he would meet with any leader w/o preconditions during the primaries and then coming back and now saying that is not the case worries me. I also think winning in Iraq is now the most important issue we face along with regulating a tad more on our businesses at home so they rich won't screw us everyday hard working Americans. But if we pull out of Iraq and leave it unstable without a true plan, that is ludicrous. I don't want to stay in there forever and neither does Mccain/Palin (large force wise), but we need to listen to our experts on the ground and not have some politician telling us when to get out.
