Had more fun shootin people in the face in counterstrike then I would have watching this =P I dont prefer to watch debates, the questions they do answer well, they have been intensely coached on, and the answers they fuck up are typically youtubed or discussed on forums the next day lol, and thats what I want to know honestly, cause it's hard to take much of it seriously, when you know they've been fed lines =/

Re: ALERT: Presidential debate starting now

I still want to know the answer to this, the man who is SOOOOOOO connected and has his finger on the secret archives of the Libarary of Alexandria

Obama: Let's take the example of Darfur just for a moment. Right now there's a peacekeeping force that has been set up and we have African Union troops in Darfur to stop a genocide that has killed hundreds of thousands of people.

We could be providing logistical support, setting up a no-fly zone at relatively little cost to us, but we can only do it if we can help mobilize the international community and lead. And that's what I intend to do when I'm president.
    http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS...ipt/index.html

If he's so connected on everything and has all the answers, then please tell me who we don't want flying in or around Darfur?

If we could've stopped Rwanda, surely, if we had the ability, that would be something that we would have to strongly consider and act.

So when genocide is happening, when ethnic cleansing is happening somewhere around the world and we stand idly by, that diminishes us.

And so I do believe that we have to consider it as part of our interests, our national interests, in intervening where possible.
hmmmm...... in our interests...... But Mr. Bush, why didn't we step in to Darfur. Maybe it wasn't in our interests. Yet the Obamessiah says "intervening where possible". Iraq is wrong. But hey, everywhere else in the world is just fine. Oh, wait, it has to be in our interests...... So.... essentially, no commitment, no definitive response, just more sunshine right up that tailpipe.

He's ready to command our troops and fight some aerial threat in one of the poorest nations in the world. I guess my time in the military has biased me. :::: sigh :::

    BAAAAAH!!!!! same damn source

Obama: Well, we may not always have national security issues at stake, but we have moral issues at stake.

If we could have intervened effectively in the Holocaust, who among us would say that we had a moral obligation not to go in?
So any of these people so vehemently opposing the war because "Iraq didn't have a beef with us", lets forget the 14 years of thumbing their noses at the U.N. and the original cease fire agreements that Sadam AGREED to in order cease fire in the first place.

We have no moral obligations when he is using the non existant WMDs on his own people?

We have no moral obligations when his sons are torturing their Olympic athletes for not winning?

We have no moral obligations when he was abusing the very basic rights of the same people he was supposed to be leading?

It would have been fine if Clinton had had the balls to finish the job, but since Bush took up the mantle, now its not fine?

And this whole war in Afghanistan would never have started if Clinton had given the permission to fire the hellfire missiles when they had Osama in their sights in Somalia. I wonder if Harry Turtledove could extrapolate out what could have been if Clinton would have done his damn job in the 1st place. Where would we be with Iraq now?

Re: ALERT: Presidential debate starting now

anyone find it funny McCain still hasn't corrected himself on the 700 billion dollars in oil going to countries that don't like us. It was proven wrong in the first debate stop saying it McCain and Palin both. I don't care to be picky just eventually one should get it right.

Anyways to my feelings, it was umm.....oh thats right two major party candidates talking bullshit for 90 minutes . third party would be awesome but it won't happen because of all the red tape the two parties threw up to cover their asses so they can spend the next 1000 some plus years giving us false promise and lying their asses off.

By the way to correct, the bailout was done not to "Save the stock market" or "stop the recession." sure it was part of it, but the main reason they wanted to get it done was to open up credit so small businesses would be able to get loans so many could meet payroll and pay their employees. But because banks put on a credit freeze they weren't able to and it was basically going to cut alot of jobs, cause more problems with mortgages, debts, foreclosure etc. unemployment goes up and yeah, it would be bad. Of course as we saw, the corporate executives are just going to take the money and run, and the plan did not work AT ALL. So yes is was a shitty plan that shouldn't have passed. Afterall the whole point was to make it so businesses could get loans, yet they still couldn't and now the feds are giving out loans to businesses just to help them. Great plan congress

As for the credit crisis in the first place, it didn't happen just because of the dems and the CRA. The problem was starting in 2000, Fannie was buying high risk loans a lot of them (do remember it was now a private company, but still looked up to by all banks) when they started doing this the banks figured "Well if Fannie and Freddy is ding it, then it will be good for us too." So they were taking in high risk loans, sometimes not even asking for income or occupation on the application. They then packaged a bunch of high risk loans with some low risk, sold the securities (Securitization is the packaging and selling of loans. Well thats simplified to apply to banking, bacon feel free to give the legal of it ) anyways they sold a bunch of these high risk loans to other banks, used the money to make more high risk loans and well "Your gods cannot save you now."

So if you ask me, what was the real problem that caused the financial mess? bad business done by the banks and other companies that decided to play follow the leader instead of looking at the facts and saying "you know, that looks like a really bad practice by Fannie and Freddy and probably going to hurt them done the roads, we will stick with what we are doing." Add the fact those high risk loans pay off big if you hit them right, and they felt the low risk loans would recoop the costs should the high risk default and bam! we now are paying them a shit load of money.

To me it always seemed like Obama was surprised when Tom interrupted him about time. Always seemed like he was thinking "Tom you are on my side! What are you doing!" lol.
