WHAHAhahah.
Scene: fade in - medium shot of urban duplex, seen from the alley, back porches, rickety stairs. The sun has just set. Dusk.
Medium-close - Screen door to second-story porch slams open, Asian lady hurries out, screen slams behind her. She carries an empty basket. Woman crosses porch, flips a switch. [sound fx of electricity crackle and hum] An impossibly bright halogen bulb inside a grimy white glass globe.
Close-up of woman's face bathed in light. She looks up, eyes scan left then right. She sets down the basket, turns, retreats to the door - opens, passes, creak of spring, SLAM.
"KIDS! DINNER IN 5!"

Re: What are you eating? (The Food Topic)
I write pretty often. I try to spend at least two evenings a week at it, and a fair amount of weekend time.
I've been paid as a technical writer. I also wrote as part of my job when I did academic work.
Getting paid for fiction is hard. There are a lot of very talented people doing it.
Doesn't mean I'm not trying. :)
When I'm on the road a standard evening for me is to find a local pub, order a snack and a local brew, and spend four hours at their bar with my laptop and a legal pad.
I have no idea what it is, but for some reason people find me to be approachable. A standard part of my standard evening is for someone to come up and ask what I'm doing. I have a standard answer.
"Fixing the world with math and poetry."
... to which they often have no response. I try to help them out.
"... it's taking longer than you'd think."
Cheers,
