    Re: A Post Turtle?

I live in Florida, we have a lot of beef cattle here too, chief.

And governments have to negotiate with private industry - it's happened here since - oh, 1776? Get used to it.

When a company wants to do something on government owned land, what do you think happens?

And lastly, that report was just as political as the Ken Starr report re: Clinton in the 90's. It was a hit-job from the start.

    Re: A Post Turtle?

A republican run investigation has said that she abused her power, and while there were other issues with the chief they've found that the decision was based on the problems with her ex brother-in-law.

    Corrupt. But what politician isn't?

Not to mention the racism happening at many of her rallies, even people yelling out "Kill Obama!"
I don't want a "folksy everyday american" running my country or even helping run my country. I especially don't want someone who just stands there and smiles while supporters at her rallies harass a black camera man.

Hell, I still say vote me for president, or Bill Gates, or maybe the smartest man in the world. Enough with these stupid "everyday" American presidents, I want someone better and smarter than me or you, and the next guy.

Here is a report by the Wall Street Journal on the non-issue that is the Palin 'scandal'.

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1224...googlenews_wsj

Bell, don't let the fact that you were in law enforcement cloud your judgement for the brother-in-law because evidently he was a bit of a headcase.

Then I would suggest that you not let your being a Republican cloud your judgement. She "Unlawfully abused her authority in firing the state's safety commissioner". This investigation was conducted by a bi-partisan commision, that was put together and began well before she was selected to run for VP.

Had this been a Democrat, you would not be so quick to say that MaBell has blinders on. In fact you would most likely be using this as an example of why the Democrat is "dangerous" or "deeply unethical". If this were Biden or Obama, I would say that they got caught fucking up, not poo-pooing the results of the investigation, no different than what I am doing right now.

Ok, well, I'm reading the 263 page report of findings concerning the investigation into Palin, and, let me tell you...Finding number 1 doesn't impress me yet...

    Finding Number One

For the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) provides

"The legislature reaffirms that each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust."

Now, I still have 200+ pages to read, but rest assured, I'm smart enough that I can pick the bullshit out of it.

    Re: A Post Turtle?

Read how they found out she abused her power and you will see that it isn't what most folks write it up as, and as such is not a big issue.

Basically she pushed for the investigation to be completed and thus abused her power. She did not in fact order anyone to fire else according to the evidence. When she told them 'hurry up' it was an abuse of power because it was her brother-in-law and thus personal. She fired the guy in charge of the investigation which was legally in her right to do, so no statutes were broken there. There were also some claims that her brother-in-law was not getting his workers comp after being fired, which were also proven to be false.

I feel that she messed up by telling them to hurry the investigation, but I would understand her want to do that reading what happened with her sister and brother-in-law.

If you don't want to vote for her that's fine, I just don't believe this is a big issue personally.

    Re: A Post Turtle?

"Mr. Monegan: I scanned it. But as I was scanning it, he was talking to me. So my attention was split, so to speak. Being a guy, I can't multitask that well."

OH MY FUCKING GOD! IS THIS GUY FOR REAL?!?

"Walt Monegan is a familiar name to many in Southcentral and rural Alaska. Monegan recently retired after 32 years in law enforcement with the Anchorage Police Department - the last five as the Chief of Police. Monegan oversaw a staff of 574 employees and an $80 million budget. Starting as a patrol officer and rising steadily through the ranks, Monegan has experience in every facet of public safety, including internal affairs, crime prevention, communications, emergency operations, training, anti-gang efforts, school/youth liaison and Crime stoppers. Monegan is credited with enhancing police effectiveness by installing mobile computers in police vehicles; implementing advanced 911 service to Alaska's largest municipal population; writing plans to address gang and youth violence; supporting the establishment of professional standards for village public safety officers; establishing a Citizens Police Academy and resurrecting police traffic units to address drunken driving. Monegan has a bachelor's degree in Organizational Administration from the Alaska Pacific University and an Associate's degree from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. His advanced professional education includes senior government executive training at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, the FBI's National Executive Institute and the National Crime Prevention Institute. He and his wife, Terry, have four adult children and one grandchild."

And he can't fucking multitask very well?!? WOW. This guy had no business being there in the first place apparently.

Oh, trust me, Blake, this one's gonna get read in its ENTIRETY now.

First rule of thumb for anyone who knows a tiny little bit about this, do NOT push, pull or shove an investigation. If you do, you are now impeding an official investigation. By Alaska'a own admission, this is also a crime and punishable my a misdemeanor charge. Upon being convicted of a misdemeanor in office, your office is AUTOMATICALLY FORFEIT.

    Re: A Post Turtle?

Oh my God, this is ridiculous. They're all a bunch of idiots up there.

First off, her FATHER demanded a meeting with Monegan, which he held in Palin's office. Since when the fuck does a father have the right to demand a meeting in the fucking Governor's office, regardless of whether she's there or not?!?

And Monegan didn't take it as tacet approval of her father's actions by allowing him to hold a meeting concerning a complaint that he had filed, which would have been more appropriately held in Monegan's office

Please. This REAKS of abuse of power.
