That's an interesting way of looking at it as far as the judge and the death penalty go. I've never thought about it that way. I just frankly don't give a rat's ass about what kind of pain the convict feels during his execution. He or she should have thought about that before they did whatever they did. For those who are concerned about the "pain" that they feel during execution, I don't understand why we can't just shoot them in the head with something big, like a 120mm cannon. That way you know they don't feel anything because their whole brain is obliterated instantly.

Implicit in my post was my own opposition to the death penalty.

I just don't think that killing people who kill people is an effective way to teach people that killing people is wrong.

Also, the big-bad-death-penalty isn't much of a deterrent. (If it is, you could have fooled me).

The thing about walking the walk is that if life is sacred, then every life is sacred. Even that of a murderer.

The right to life isn't just for Terry Shiavo and unborn babies...

    I agree with that.

Other issues that turn me off of the death penalty are the destruction of family and the irreversability of the punishment in the event mistake is discovered in the prosecution.
