Vid card compaines usally come with 3 types of cards when a new one hits the market.
example: ATI
x1950 -the best there fuckin is
x1900 -top of the line
x1800- stripped down x1900
x1600 -low end new vid card
x1300 -waste of money
companies do this to target a broader consumer range. Not all people can afford the highend new card so they get the cheaper new card?
crazy but that is how it is.
when the x800 came out they came out with
x850 - no reason 4 this x800 performs just as well
x800 - Jason jinx's card
x700 -tuna's crap card
x600 -complete piece of shit
this might be confusing
hope it helps scuba

To answer your question, te x800XT would be the best out of the models listed.
The x800 had a few different models. The x800 Pro, x800XL, x800XT and plain old x800. They are all pretty decent cards. The best buy out of the bunch was always the x800XL, but the better performer is x800XT.
As for the x800 performing as well as the x850XT, you are mistaken. The fastest x800XT I have seen features a 520MHz core with a 560MHz memory clock (1120MHz @ DDR). The x850XT features a 540MHz core with a 590MHz memory clock (1180MHz @ DDR). Sure it is a close comparison, but the difference is in the stability of the 2 cores.
The x800XT has ATI's R420 core. The x850XT has ATI's R480 core. The R480 core is faster and more stable when overclocked. The x850XT also features a nicer build. It has a better heatsink/cooling system than any of the x800 series.
If you do not think that cooling matters, take this into consideration:
I overclock the core of my x850XT from 540MHz to 575MHz. I overclock the memory (DDR3 by the way) from 590MHz to 620MHz (1240MHz @ DDR!!). That means I am running faster than an nVidia 7800GT and coming close to an ATI x1900XT.
Bottom line:
x800 series is still a good card. The x850XT is better in pure performance measures and in overclocking potential. As long as you are getting something with 16 pixel pipelines, at least 256 memory, and a memory bandwith around 35GB/s, you should be just fine.

Seems like a pretty good deal. Does the keyboard have a built in 10-key?
I have a 17" Fujitsu Lifebook with the Intel Centrino 1.86 GHz processor, 1 gig of 533MHz DDR2. The display on that thing is awesome. The only drawback is that it has an x600 graphics card, so I am pretty much limited to RTS games (Battle for Middle Earth, Generals, Company of Heroes). I mostly use it for programming anyways. How much is it USD? I do not know the Canadian conversion.
I like it. 17" notebooks are the shizzle fo rizzle.
