Thread: ...... when someone calls for help.

I'm at work, juggling my paying job responsiblities and another acquaintance calls up needing help on his laptop.

"Hey Laggy, my laptop won't boot."

Ok, what's it doing?

"It keeps stopping on this screen that says Boot Normally, Safe mode and some other stuff"

Ok, choose Last Known Good.

"I already did that it didn't do anything different."

Do it again.

"Still no difference."

Ok, then choose Safe Mode.

"Still no difference. It has a whole lot of text, then it comes back to that same screen about which mode."

So where are you? Oh, you're in Seattle today. Well man, sorry, but if it won't come up in safe mode either, then I don't think I can walk you through it over the phone. I would have to go after it with some stuff I have here in Houston or we'd have to slave your hard drive in to another PC to fix it.

"So you can't fix it? Thanks for nothing!"

Thanks for nothing........ mmmmmmmk. Here, maybe if I had waved my magic wand first, I could have had a better outcome.
