I do tend to agree with flame, but your anecdote about the local store seems to throw that idea off at least on your block. Maybe its the size of the neighborhood or the level of crime in the area. My take on it is arm the clerk and if he has to kill a robber every week, so be it.

The response about regulating more powerful weapons, do you mean in terms of firepower, capacity, or what? I think its the piddly little 9mm semi autos that stacked most of the bodies up around here last summer. They are outright banned, not regulated and as a result only the criminals have them.

I am too tired to lift one finger on the subject, plus I am heading to test out the NEW BF2 RANKED SERVER but my gut tells me that it is the piddly little 9 MM and below that cause most of the carnage around the country.

To be quite honest, Clintok, I don't know what can be done. I would imagine it is, like you said, piddly 9mm's doing most of the damage. I just don't believe that flooding the streets with more weapons (both in quantity and power) will stem any bit of crime or murder. In fact, I still think that with more people carrying then there is more potential for someone to get shot or robbed or both. So I guess regulating the capacity, quantity and caliber would not quash all problems with firearms, but it will be a step in the right direction. *NOTE, I am NOT advocating taking away anyone's weapons or banning the sale of firearms. I just believe that there ought to be some sort of logical restrictions as to what is produced and purchased by just about anyone.

The reason I dont get my concealed weapon permit is that having a gun on hand in nearly every case provides an escalation path that can turn a normal assbeating into ending their life and ruining yours. I leave my guns at home and pray (to the theory of relativity) that I never have to use them.

If you do pull it, goodbye clearance, hello felony conviction for brandishing a firearm or worse. You can't justify pulling a gun just because you are allowed to carry one can you? I dint see how you can come out of that a winner.

I have my concealed / carry permit and at least if someone wants to carjack me.........he'll die from Lead poisoning. However most times I leave the gun home and the guns that are home are locked and loaded. But I don't have kids either.My ammo boxes are stocked so any ban that the current congress wants to impose is fine with me sorta. Having said that by banning something it only means lawabiding citizens won't have it. The criminals will always get it because of one word.......money. If you have enough you can get anything! To me Bans are useless. Just like the "ban" on drugs you can get it on any street corner in America !
