The problem in Texas is that we usually get ice, not snow, or even if it starts as snow it becomes ice on the roads.

Of course, I was born and raised in MN, and now im in AK, both get alot of snow and do not shut down unless it is realy really bad out, also took my drivers test during a snow storm and passed with like a 97. Damn p parking(I hit the curb)
Also just because you are from a state that gets snow doesnt mean people know how to drive in snow, A dumbass here last winter got killed during a snow storm and they estimated that he was going 85+ when he crashed. You drive slower then the speed limit people, and just because you may know how to drive in it doesnt mean that others do, so be very very aware of the drivers around you and anticipate what could happen, not to mention going slower and giving more time to stop or dodge things. PS 4 wheel drive does not help you stop.
Hell, even the "thought" of snow makes us shut down..... I've not gone to work, cause the weather man said it "might" snow fairly "close" to here.... lol.

Texas right now, can't make up it's mind if it's in Winter or Summer; I've had to use my A/C and Heater both int he same damn day.... but hey, that's my I love my Texas. Never know what your going to get in regards to weather in, but you can always count on Beautiful Blue skies just about everyday (except today).

We,in Minnesota, love to see two inches of snow,or some icy roads close entire citys in the warmer climates. Its entertainment that gets us thru our winters. For 3 months out of the year, every year, there is about an inch of ice on my road....thats just how it is here, and we get used to it.I'm with Walker on this one as well....I LOVE WINTER!! snowmobiling, ice fishing(ice drinking ),4-wheeling,skiing....Winter is what you make of it here. You can lock yourself up for 4 months,or find ways to enjoy it.

We also understand that citys like Dallas are not set up to combat weather like that. The Mn. Dept.of Trans. does a great job,and are well funded and prepared for what we get every year.

Up here in the land of snow (2 hrs north of Toronto), winter's been here for two weeks...got 2 feet of snow now...looks nice but I sure hate shovelling the stuff. Only good thing is that my twins will be able to celebrate their first Christmas playing in the snow. After Christmas, I wish the crap would melt...bring on golf!

Hell we are but all we have been getting is RAIN! We were told fom NOAA that we should have had at least 6inches of snow by the end of this month bu its 6inches of RAIN! So we are fully ready for a blizzzard, well us house owners are but the state need more funding. They have been doing a good job but slow on response due to budget cuts. Where do i live, in CT next to NY, under Mass and next to Rhode Island. Yea that akward looking state.

You guys get that monster lake effect snow...and yes,i am jealous! No snow on the ground here yet,but the temps have been down and the ground is frozen, now,so its just a matter of time. We hit about -35 last year, and its supposed to be a harsher winter here than last winter. You guys get the monster snow,we get less snow, but it gets hella cold here(temp wise).
