    Polaroid Instant Pictures

Do any of you still have a Polaroid camera? Polaroid will stop making the film and quite frankly, I'm bummed. I still have a mint Polaroid Land Camera. Not that I used the camera much, but it is so cool. It clicks and whirs and the photos smelled like plastic model paint. Kind of like old dittos in school.

The last picture I took with it was about 1987. It is of a cute girl I went to undergrad with. We went to an art museum as part of a class assignment. The picture is her standing outside of the museum. It has a lack of contrast compared to modern digital photos but still, it's cool in an artsy sort of way. It reminds me of the Polaroid photo in the movie Terminator. I treasure it and the day it captured.

I was talking to a buddy about this yesterday. Apparently his bright idea is to buy as much polarois as possible and in 5-10 years, "make a killing."

    I'm bummed too..

He does know that the chemicals go start to go bad right? Unless he has a refrigerator he is not going to use for the next decade....

I mean I personally have used a roll of 20 year old Kodacrome but most of the pictures turned out really washed out.

Seeing as how the basics of the plan sound asinine I doubt he has calculated the finer details.

At least now in 50 years when some kid hears that line in Hey Ya, they'll have an excuse to ask 'Shake it like a polaroid picture? What's THAT!?'
