Anyone go/went to ASU?

Arizona State University is one of my choices for college next year I was wondering if anyone here has gone there or goes there and has anything to say about it. I'm probably going to go visit the campus in late January so I guess that will ultimately decide if I like it or not.

i live near by it, and its a school for a bunch of drunken jocks and preps that are complete assholes and go out and get drunk all night, every night. Girls are hott though.

Though i may be just a bit bias since i am a die-hard University of Arizona fan (Should check out UA btw, its only about a 3 hour drive from tempe to Tucson)

Yeah, and I hate nerds that have no friends in RL, and can only have fake ones online, that is why I hate gamers.

Way to stereotype a large segment of the population, and probably a large portion of TTP as well there Red. I happen to be a jock, played sports year round in high school, and still play today even in my old age. I would still be willing to compare IQs and SAT scores if you would like. Not all jocks or preps are stupid just like not all gamers live in their parents' basement while existing on Red Bull and day old pizza.

Edit - Not that there is anything wrong with that

and I do not really hate gamers if you missed the sarcasm.

think we got different definitions of jocks, to me a jock isn't someone who just plays sports but more that type of person thats athletic and rides it well being absolutely dense in the head. Like their were people in my senior class that were on the football i wouldn't call jocks because they actually had more to them then just being athletic.

As for preps, well smart or not i have a hard time liking them because they seem too controlled by the media etc, doesn't mean they are but just the ones i've been around seem to follow anything thats popular and don't make their own decision on what they like.

And no the above isn't me saying "the conform" crap while wearing shit sold at Wal-Mart. I don't care if you conform, but at least do it because you like say rap music, or the color black w.e. not cuz its the "cool" thing

And I'm sure people from ASU would say something similar about University of Arizona students right?

But I don't want this to go off topic guys, I'm trying to get some info about colleges. You guys started a random argument isn't helpful lol.

Coors was telling me he works at UoA but still thinks ASU is nice and would be a good college.
Anyone else live in Arizona with an opinion on it?

My best advice is to go somewhere that mirrors where you want to live someday.

Go to a big school in a big city if you want to live in a big city and learn to deal with all sorts of people.

Go to a small school in a little community if you are going to live in a smaller community or town after graduating.

As a heads up, people who are unhappy in big schools like ASU and complain tend to be those from small communities that are used to lots of hands-on learning and personal attention. At a big school like ASU/UofA, you fend for yourself a lot the first couple of years unless YOU make the initiative and get to know your professors and classmates.

What are your other college choices? What are you studying?

Obviously I'm biased, but I'd say most AZ people would admit UofA is better academically than ASU except for some niche programs. But going to school in Phx probably offers you more opportunities in the sense of internships and jobs down the line, since its like 4x the size of Tucson I think.

I've always like Tempe and the ASU campus, so I would have no hesitation going there someday for a graduate program if I ever ended up in Phx.

When you come to phx, drive to Tucson and I will show you UA campus
