First you say that you're having trouble 'referencing' the off-topic forum (what does that mean?) and then later in your post you state the problem is that the political threads are too caustic for your taste. Which one is it?

Its always the same half-a-dozen people in those threads anyways. All of them are so solidified in their beliefs its never a conversation. Everyone's just trying to get the last zinger in before the thread gets locked/hijacked or both. Even when a good post or point is made, the same dirty dozen are so afraid that if they change their mind they will be sigged/owned/pwned by eachother that they wont ever budge on their first stance.

Ultimately these threads are fruitless, with no productive dialogue or learning taking place on either side.

Im tired of it too, but is the solution to compile these threads into one forum? Im not sure what the best solution is, and neither does the mod community yet. Which is why many of us are waiting to see if these threads would have died down after the election (which they arent). I think we should start brainstorming.

Dude....dont worry about what I do here. Thats my business and not yours.

All im saying is make a separate forum (which is not hard at all) for politcal topics only.

It has been discussed by the site mods. It is not happening now, but is open for discussion in the future. I think this is a perfect example of what his problem is with the topics he mentions.

Its just annoying as hell when i need to dig thru the forums for something one day, then 1 hour later I try to go back and find the thread I was looking for...only to find massive amounts of new political threads that just get in the way.

Skip, I shall then. But please, let's get this resolved.

I don't like it either, bud, but we did put it to a vote in the Site Mod forum like he said, and it was overwhelmingly shot down.

Trust me, I hate when I'm eating my tasty bowl of Off-the-Server'Os and somebody comes over and takes a huge, political shit in my breakfast.
