    IPOD Help

After comparing the "Off the Servers" and "PC Hardware and Technology", I decided that this would fit better here for two reasons: 1) It gets more overall exposure and 2) IPOD=Apple not PC.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now to the important things.  I have an IPOD.  Some of the songs are so loud I can hear them when the audio is literally turned down as low as it can go.  Others are so quiet I need it up about 2/3 of the way to comfortably hear anything.  So how do I balance the audio so I can place the audio at 50% and comfortably hear every song without manually changing it as I listen to it.

The other day I almost fell off a mountain while skiing because fucking Johnny Cash started screaming in my ear about how he fell into a burning ring of fire just as Rascal Flatts stopped telling me about what hurts the most. The issue of the audio levels has literally become a health concern.

Within Itunes you should be able to make modifications to the session volume for the song or group of songs. If there is an album by Samatha Fox for example that plays too loud, you can lower the volume within ITUNES.

I do not know how to do normalize all songs at the IPOD level.

    what maqtar said.

But the overall problem is the quality of the mp3. However you ripped them you didn't keep the bitrate the same.

It's the Mp3. I'd recommend making sure that you get good tracks. If you are getting them from Itunes you're fucked because it'll be impossible to fix.

But is there a way I can set certain tracks to play at certain sound levels?

    Re: IPOD Help

found the below online. You may want to give it a try:

    To achieve this, go to:

    - Preferences > Playback

    - Check the “Sound Check” option.

Now, when you turn on your iPod, check:

    - Settings > Sound Check

    - Press the “Select” button.

There's numerous programs out there that you can get to "normalize" mp3s. In fact, I know there are some that do it on a directory level (IE: all files in a directory).

Google up "normalize" "mp3 volume" and see what shakes loose.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

ok... dammit... Just because you made me lawl at your falling off the mountain story... I did the heavy lifting for you.

    http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/

That program not only does batch processing on entire directories full of mp3s, but it also supposedly does it in an advanced way that beats most other normalizer programs.

    Have fun.
