I usually shop at Wal-Mart. It's true, if you need help your screwed but they have everything in 1 store so it saves me a lot of time. As for food that spoils... I sometimes go to Central Market in Plano. Honestly, it makes me arch a brow when they have any fruit you want regardless of season. I also bought some avacados once. I put them in my fridge and forgot about them. I found them 3 months later and they were still firm. That my friends... makes me nervous. Makes you ask what they did to the produce to make them last so long.

we have the new concept Wal-mart. Completely different looking than the others. Grocery portion is nice with a large deli, sushi bar , large produce and meat department. Store is actually clean. We have only been going to Target in the past, but now find ourself at this new Wal-Mart. I do wish HEB would move further north.

I do all my shopping at HEB and I hit up walmart on occasion for blank DVD's. Im studying to be an accountant and we learned that companies such as wal-mart and target get their low prices by having the smaller companies pay the overhead costs.
To explain:
Lets say it takes $20 to make a widget and $5000 to pay for various unavoidable costs.
The companys max production is 5000 but it is currently only producing 4000.
The company sells said widget to a consumer for $30 so $8.75 profit (5000/4000=1.25 per widget overhead)
Walmart comes in and says I will take 1000 widgets but I will only pay you $21.
The price is accepted because if they only make 4000 and earn 8.75 per they earn $35,000 but if they make 5000 and the overhead drops to $1 per widget they make $36,000 total but the smaller companies are paying for walmart to have the cheaper price.
