Man Scrum that sucks, I've had something similar happen to me (well not really THAT similar, but similar haha). I started working at CountryWide after graduation, was planning on making some money there and then going to ITT Tech or something, only to get laid off 6 months after being hired. So in order to keep my apartment I start working at KFC until I can find another job that pays better. A construction company offers me a job, so I ask if it's a sure thing and whether or not I should put in my two weeks notice at KFC, they tell me to go ahead and do it. So two weeks go by...I leave KFC...and now the construction company isn't making enough money to hire me on AND KFC has already replaced me.... You would think the construction company would know two weeks in advance if they have enough money to hire someone on or not..... :3

So yeah, lost my apartment, and have been looking for a new job for about 5 or 6 months now.
