    I don't see why we just cant have one clef for all of the instruments. Make things so much simpler.

    Yup. I played Marimba 'back in the day.' When you're running four mallets (six for one song, that was painful), trying to read two clefts at once is too much, so I made our instructor (and writer) put it all in treble.

    I can read bass for timps and the like, but not as fluidly as treble
