Paul Harvey - RIP

I just heard about this this morning. It is a sad day. I had a bad feeling about this last year when his son and Huckabee was doing the news for him for a couple of weeks, or it could have been months.

I only caught him when I was driving home from PT and once and awhile at lunch. But I loved listening to him.

Paul Harvey gave the news, but the special part of his broadcast was a segment called "The Rest of the Story". In each segment he would focus on an event or person in history and then tell a great story about a little-known fact. It might have been about an unsung hero, or stroke of luck, etc. Then he would say, "Now you know the rest of the story."

All around America people would stop what they were doing to listen to Paul Harvey's story. Burly men in shops and factories would stop and huddle together around workbench radios to listen to Paul's inspirational stories. Paul Harvey might have been considered a common man's philosopher. He was a national treasure.

didn't hear too much of him til i moved down here and the only AM station here would play Rest of the Story at 5:30pm, was always a cool program and great to listen to.

Was watching ABCs America This Morning last night and they mentioned for the next few days ABC radio is going to be playing different clips of Paul Harvey, kind of like a best of every now and then.
