Last weekend, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said he also saw opportunities for the U.S. military to help with military training, resources and intelligence.

And if you don't, just think about how every war the US has gotten into started since pre 1900. First go the intelligence assets to, "help figure out what the bad guys are up to", then goes the resources (usually in the form of weapon systems). Then, of course, go the military advisors to help train the people on how to use those weapon systems. Then go the US military to actually do it for them, because they turn out to be oh so incompentent to do it themselves.
