License to have kids?

I wouldn't have let my oldest daughter get a license based on her teenage behavior. She got pregnant anyway, and lo and behold, she's an awesome Mom. She now has a second child, both out of wedlock to the same guy, but recently married him. I know some people don't seem like they would qualify as fit to be parents, but you just never know. All of this talk about overpopulation control, birth control, and welfare abuse is not the point. Shit happens, and it's what you do after the shit happens that makes you a good or bad parent.

A perfect testiment to show that a license would have and will do nothing. Completely useless discussion. I'm still amazed that people believe that a license will do anything at all.

Sometimes it takes a pregnancy for a teenager to grow up over night. It's not surprising that she's an awesome Mother. I believe things like that come naturally to human beings. However, that is not the issue, was she able to do the things she would have wanted to do education or career wise?

As a daily volunteer in my son's school... There are times I wish we had to have a license to have children.
Parents are the mirror and what we say and do reflects on our children.
She is a good parent because she had good parents.

Some of the worst parents have had some amazing children, and vice versa some of the best parents have had some of the worst children.

This poll is moot. A License has no effect on whether or not someone is a good parent, or has a good kid.

I believe this is due to the "outside influence" of others and not the parents.
I might not agree, but I support you 100%.
Can you tell I'm a parent?

While it might be true that "outside influences" caused the outcome, whether good or bad, those outside influences would still exist in a world where parents had to be licensed to have kids.

I'm not saying that there are some people who just shouldn't breed, just that a license would do absolutely nothing.

And congorats on being a parent...I'm hoping I don't have to be one anytime soon, eventually maybe...but not anytime in the near future.

I like your thought on this vote. So many idiotic parents who "don't have time" for kids, don't spend the time it takes or put in the effort to raise them.

There has to be a way to exterminate parents who let their 5 yr olds smoke weed and street fight.
