Thread: Graduation Speakers

The My teachers..... thread got me thinking about this.

How many of you have had some really horrible or awkward speakers at their graduation? Not saying that Obama is either if you check out the previous thread, but let me share a little story.

I graduated in May 08 from Mercer University. We had Nancy Grace come and speak at our graduation. It was one of the most awkward feeling speeches I've ever heard. At first it was alright, the standard go out into the world, you should be proud of yourself, etc. kind of speech. But then she started talking about when her husband was murdered. Now personally I didn't know this about her, and honestly I would rather not know. But I'm sitting there, in my graduation attire, waiting to get my diploma, and there's this national figure talking about coming home to find her husband brutally murdered?

I mean seriously, who talks about that stuff to graduating college students about to try and make it in the real world?

Anyone else have some weird/horrible speeches given to them?
