That's asinine. But it's in keeping with a lot of old views and old regulations that were enacted out of prejudice and fear, and it takes time for things like that to filter out of legislation.

Now, that's not to say they shouldn't take high-risk demographics into consideration, and it is ultimately their decision who they'll accept donations from. But it's still ridiculous.

    I kid you not...

This went on for a semester or so...walk into the bathroom at 4 AM to piss and find random words scribed in poo on the walls.

    Bleh...

Anyway...Around spring break I started puking and didnt stop for 3 days, went to the infirmary and got diagnosed with Hep. A.

My body now has the antibodies and I am on the NO list for donating blood. I was the universal donor...sucks.
That's pretty sick, at an institution of higher learning too. I've seen more things written on bathroom stalls at colleges than I have ANYwhere else which to me is sick. I hate people like that and can't understand how people get enjoyment out of writing, "here I sit....." Dumb if you ask me.
Not everybody who goes to college is socially well adjusted and level headed.

Ipso facto, the mad shitter of Florida State in 1996.

We figured out it was likely Pedro the student from Venezuela who came to FSU a fresh-faced soccer kid and by the end of the first semester was all strung out on drugs and wearing goth-gear listening to Marilyn Manson.

    Freak...

    They do.

They also ask if you think you have ever had sex with a woman who had sex with a man who was gay and all those other hypothetical situations.

A woman friend of mine was asked if she had ever had sex with a man who she thought was gay and she just looked at him like

It really is a bunch of bullshit. I'm as straight as they come with a girlfriend and all, but I would take blood from any thoroughly tested and and clean blooded gay male just as I would anyone else.

I don't think there is anything legally that you could do about it though....

    Re: Giving Blood...

I haven't donated blood much, but I used to donate plasma twice a week, mostly because you get paid for doing so.

    I don't think I have a particularly rare blood type (I'm either A+ or B+, can't remember), though my sister's O+, so I'd hope she donates frequently.

Neither blood nor needles bother me... I ended up cutting myself pretty bad and I actually spent a good 30 seconds or so just staring at the wound, watching blood flow out of my veins going "oh, wow, cool."

Gulf coast regional never asked me. I think it's gonna vary from place to place.

That's awesome. Plasma is very important.

, mostly because you get paid for doing so.
Nevermind - it ceases to be a donation when you make them pay for it.

    Re: Giving Blood...

Well, you basically got paid to read a book or watch a movie on a laptop while squeezing a hand exerciser for 60 seconds every 90 seconds. That it was benefiting other people just happened to be convenient.
