    TCLEOSE Certification

Don't get it yourself...many agencies are hiring new officers and the cert. comes with the training. They pay for it and you are paid while you are going threw it. WIN WIN!

Yeah, read that. I guess my question was can I get the Peace Officer Certification without any class or academy training?

In order to become eligible for licensing, you must meet certain minimum requirements, complete the full-time Basic Peace Officer Certification course and pass the basic peace officer licensing examination.
Ok, great explanation of "certain minimum requirements".

    Ag,

Don't know that I want to be a full time cop. My buddy was telling me about a program similar to the reserves where you are a full fledged officer for his city, but you only work a few shifts a month or some such.

Some Dept's have reserve officers but it is really limited to certain jurisdictions. Mainly your larger metropolitan area's. You may also look into a civilian job with the Dept. I know that they have several different job opportunities for civies.
