Re: You forget to defrag for 4 months....

Funny thing about defragmenting... I have not defragged a HD since...oh...2001; never noticed ANY problems related to it. All my load times are the same as they have ever been and only change with memory/processor changes. The disk on my big rig has been defragged since I built it in 2007. This laptop I use now, and for gaming, is a year old, I have never defragged it.

Although... I upgrade/build new computers often enough that my HDDs rotate around so none are in use for more than two years before being formatted. But anyway...defragging appears to do very little in my opinion.

Thats the ticket, i let smart defrag run in the background and run the optimizer every so often. Works great and I also like the Advanced system care package they offer.

I got sick of not seeing how long it would take too.
Amazing program. If you do the deep optimize function after an install, it makes everything run smoothly.(optimization re-organizes files by physical location on disk. Defragmentation is simply putting whole files in the same place on the disk.) so your computer should load programs and be browsed faster. It also has a background defragmentor which IMO is much better than the vista BG defrag because it actively finds time that the HDD is not being used before it starts to defrag, then uses more time until you make another input. Also has a prograss bar and neat little box-grid which tells you what parts of your disk it is working on.

The whole advanced system care package is very nice. It's got a nice disk clean up program that wipes out a lot of the windows vista storage crap that reports and stores all kinds of garbage for microsoft.

It has a game booster mode similar to AMD's Fusion. You just have to tweek it more.

It looks for multiple copies of shortcuts, programs, files etc and shows you where they are located so you can delete redundant software. It has a registry fixer and an unused or broken icon finder and so much more.

Just an amazing free little program, I am considering buying the full version.

I know I'll be burned at the stake for saying this but I use Norton's 360 2.0. It'll clean the registry, clean out caches both temp and IE temp and optimize. All of which I can start and select a button to shut down the computer when it's done. I'll usually start it when I'm done for the night and I'll check it in the morning.

I've heard good things about that part of Norton, but I still doubt it's AV capabilities.

I use Defraggler and will probably not look back, plus its neat to watch it do its work!

Allows you to defrag not only disks but also specific folders if you wish.
