    Well no I am not, I am in TN. My point would be to carry open because its my right. I have a Handgun Carry Permit, not a concealed permit. I can carry open or concealed.

    I would be extremely curious as to why this man feels he needs to be armed. Is it just a statement or does he really feel threatened.

    I believe its a bit of both. According to the article there have been 200 homicides in the past 2 years in the North Side. Also, he mentioned how it is our constitutional right and if we don't exercise it, what are we doing here? Self defense is beautiful thing. Refuse to be a victim.

    Tough call for the cops, though. I have to agree with the chief of police in the article. Have a suspect surrender the weapon, produce identification and paperwork (should be on you at the time), then let him go about his buisness. Granted, I doubt people carrying illegal firearms would openly holster them, so I don't see the need to drive every person with a holstered weapon to the ground. Tough call, but I have to side with precaution for the cops.

    I personally think open carry is a bad idea but not from a constitutional position. I would rather a perp not know I was armed than the other way around. He will know then the time is right.

    Couldn't agree more. Why not carry, when it is one of your rights?

    You know the bad guys are going to be packin', so its nice to know some of the good guys are too... (not just police)
