Ok, I'll clarify myself for you Hawg.

In regards to torturing enemy combatants that will be tried in civilian courts, here is my rationale: Our own civil rules simply do not work well when applied to military prisoners captured on a battlefield. Most cases will have to be thrown out because you simply cannot follow the same civil crime standards when investigating. Things like proper due process, knowledge of rights (Miranda), proper evidence collection, etc. all conspire against making good cases. And since they are going to get off, we may as well get something out of them while we have them. It's probably the only punishment that they are going to get.

As far as chemical assisted interrogation, I think you misunderstood what I meant there. I meant that we should look for more effective ways to use chemicals during interrogations. How great would it be if we could just inject a prisoner with something and get them to tell us everything that they know, guaranteed to be the truth, without any undue suffering or permanent harm? In order to come up with something like that, it involves a lot of study of the human nervous system and how it works. Who knows, maybe that research could help us develop something to cure Alzheimer's or something.

But if you want to take it as in what the Nazi's did, I have another great example: Planned Parenthood.

You have to forgive Hawg. He thinks that we haven't been intergating people like this through out our history. It all just started with the war on terror. If that were true though we would have one problem. Where did we get these people that seemed to know so much about torture to make it useful. They were already on the payroll thats how they showed up so fast.

Anyone can smash somebodies hand with a hammer but only a trained person can make this a long drawn out process as to get the information needed. Most people just would not have the stomach for it. Hence the out rage. Pretty sure we've been doing this in every war we've ever had.

Making it sound like Germany was the only country to use torture is just absurd. You need to go to the VA or American Legion some time and meet with some former POW's Hawg. The don't just get to sit in a cell. Doesn't matter which war it was it is common place to interrogate people by means of torture.

Still doesn't make it something that is preferred by the bulk of humanity but none the less it's still there. Sorry Hawg but I'm here strictly to bust your balls.

Like I said, torture is torture. There's a saying that I heard a few times, (dex knows all about this quote, in fact I think it was tailored after him) "You can build a house from scratch, but will never be known as a carpenter,..... but suck one dick, and you will always be known as a cocksucker". Same goes with torture, if we okay torture, for anyone, we will always be known as torturers.

The whole chemical assisted interrogation, I don't know enough to have an opinion. But I would lean towards, if it does no permanent harm(physical,mental) and actually garners truth, I can't see why not.

See i try not to be insulting. I've read some pretty retarded things from you as well. But thats why I like our debates we don't have to agree to try and force the other to see it our way. I respect your opinion but i'm going to stick with mine. If it can save innocent lives i'm all for it. Providing that the person is truely of the enemy and can provide facts. Torturing a middle eastern wouldn't really be worth shit unless we have proof he's with a faction trying to do harm.

Where did I say that we can't interrogate? There is a big difference between interrogation and torture. You can do one without the other. I know it might be hard for you to wrap your brain around that, but so it goes......

Nowhere did I say, nor imply, that Germany was the only country to torture. Unless Air-Ordinancemen are truly privvy to our intelligence gathering tactics, such as interrogation, then I will have to go with the fact that until Cheney, Bush, John Yu, Joe Bybee, Don Rumsfeld tried to changed the defintion of torture, then we as a country did not in fact engage in torture.

Planned Parenthood used to forcibly sterilize people that they deemed "unfit" to reproduce in America. The Nazis did the same thing in Europe. Planned Parenthood was big into the whole eugenics thing. The Nazis were too. Both had scientists on the payroll that used Darwinism and their own funky version of science to convince people that the disabled, retarded, and certain ethnic groups shouldn't be permitted to reproduce.
