I think this is stupid. I hardly drive that way and when I do I just throw a couple of quarters into the machine. Now I have out of state plates on one of my cars. So that bill is going to go half way across the nation just to bill me one or two dollars, maybe twice a year?
I think toll roads are stupid in the first place.
Also what I don't understand is that they say it'll help air quality? How? It's a high way. The exhaust will still be there, if stop or drive ten feet. It won't matter.

Re: George Bush Turnpike to go all electronic tolls
its because dallas has an electronic toll device....the same thing as Houston's EZ-Tag, which i think is AMAZING!
they use RFID tags you stick on your windshield behind your rear view mirror....that you never see or think about till you speed through a toll booth....
How is it better for the environment?? Engine's operate MUCH MUCH MUCH more efficiently when they're full speed on a highway....why is MPG rating for highway usage higher than the MPG for city usage...When you don't have to slow down (thus wasting momentum) idle and go bumper to bumper to throw your change, then accelerate BACK to the speed you were before...you're saving a small amount of gas.
Now multiply that by the thousands of people who use those toll booths.......
Here in Houston, the exits for small roads are unmanned from like, 2 AM to 6 AM....and rely only on the electronic sensors.
