You know what.. stop cracking your joints if you've already started, if not, don't do it...

Re: Thoughts on cutters
I needed advice Tick, I don't know what to do about it and her parents aren't any help. They keep ignoring and think they have a perfect life cause they're all christian. But that's bs, she needs help but the question is how do I get it for her. I may be her boyfriend but I'm not a cutter and I don't really like people who do. She started it during our relationship due to school and her best friends backstabbing her. If this thread gets locked then so be it, but I need some advice cause I'm seriously worried sick about her. Keep in mind that I've been dating her for 19 months, I think it's my right that if I care about so deeply that I should find help for her in any way I can.
EDIT: Just to make sure Tick understands a little something about me, if I didn't care why would I even be with her still? I'm trying to get her help because her parents won't. They are the pricks not me, they actually believe forcing Christianity down their daughter's throat will help her. I'm gonna make it clear and say that religion is what YOU want to believe and what YOU choose. My dad is on me with this and I have felt this way about it all my life and do not plan to change. She needs a psychiatrist..NOW, even if I have to take money out of my savings for college for her I'll do it. I will not let her kill herself slowly like this if there's something I can do about it. If that makes me a prick then clearly you don't understand me. I could give two shits whether I died tomorrow, but anyone else, you better bet I'll do what I can to prevent it.
So again, you wanna lock this thread, fine, but I simply want help or advice. Is that too much to ask for?

Re: Thoughts on cutters
Cutters:
They suffer from what is called by some "Deliberate Self Harm Syndrome," by others "complex post-traumatic stress disorder" (PTSD), "Repetitive Self-Harm Syndrome" or "multiple personality/dissociative identity disorders" (MPD/DID). Many of these people simply call themselves "cutters," and some simply call what they do SI, or self-injury. The majority of cutters are women, between the ages of 13 and 30, but there are cutters of every age and gender. the self-mutilation relieves anxiety and/or depersonalization symptoms which could lead to psychosis or suicide if not alleviated. Self-harm can be focusing, calming. It can give a person a feeling of control over their lives and their bodies which they have experienced no other way. People trying to help cutters should not try to take this coping mechanism away from the cutters without helping them first come to terms with things that trigger incidents and learning new, healthier coping mechanisms with which to replace the old ones.
For many cutters, self-mutilation seems the only appropriate response to the state of the world and to how they're feeling about it and about themselves. Many cutters are extremely intelligent, sensitive, and creative people who have a hyper-sensitivity to the world around them. They may feel like an open wound walking through this extremely screwed up world while most people see m happily oblivious to all that's wrong with everything.
