Re: New Star Trek Movie
Soy I know you are in love with spoc etc etc but do you remember what the old spock said to the new one?
Reasoning/Logical thinking is not always the right choice but to sometimes go with the gut feeling.
What I am trying to say is don't hurt yourself over-thinking certain issues. :9

Re: New Star Trek Movie
I'm an ST fan and I saw this over the weekend.
It was ok. Definately not a garden variety Star Trek episode. Much less cerebral like a typical Star Trek, more action like a Star Wars or Battlestar Galactica.
Casting was excellent imo. You can definately "see" the original characters in the new young cast.
Storyline was a bit week, as they traded story for more action. Oh well, let's hope this isn't the death of a classic.
Action/effects were superb.
Overall worth seeing in theatres due to special effects.

Re: New Star Trek Movie
Oh man I totally forgot about the guy in the red jumpsuit. Soon as ma and my friends saw him, we were immediately like "He aint coming back." or Id hate to be that guy.
Also I guess this is kind of an alternate reality to the original ST series. One of my friends was explaining it to me because in one episode Spock did try to help the Romulans...and this movie is kind of a new timeline from the original.

Re: New Star Trek Movie
I think it's a testament to the direction Abrams took it that it's by and large an enjoyable movie, both to Star Trek fans who've watched every episode of the original series (like me) and to people who haven't seen anything beyond SNL skits. It's really what the franchise needed at this point, because... Well, let's face it, there's a reason Enterprise was canceled as soon as it possibly could have been. It's been stuck in a downward spiral for a while, and hopefully the new cast will make things a little more accessible to a new audience.
