Basically they wanted a flatter trajectory round than a 7.62x39 but with more power than a 5.56. Too tired of having AK rounds bust through concrete when a 5.56 wouldn't I guess. There is debate which is better the 6.8 or the 6.5. Expensive right now since it is kind of a specialty round rather than a main line round. Personally I would stick with a .308

We're tentatively planning another BBQ/shootout before the fall semester starts up this year. I have a feeling the rifles are going to outnumber the shotguns this time around. 8)
