Anyway, I don't see the big deal. Even if you're self-conscious, like others have said, the people operating the machine never get to see the pictures, and the person seeing the pictures never get to see the person. All that happens is they see something suspicious on their blurry black and white monitors and hit a big red button. Then that person is pulled aside by airport security and probed searched.

While I am concerned about the invasion of privacy issues that this country is heading towards I would recommend using this machine over the only other option they will give you which is the pat down. Especially if you are self-concious you can easily end up with one of the many employees who relish rubbing their hands on someone. Plus if you have it done then you get to put your name on the class action lawsuit that someone will enventually file and maybe you'll get some money out of it.

Oh and just to make you more nervous to fly, even after the post 9/11 security changes a friend of mine was able to take a can of mace onto the plane and security never found it. Now this was not on purpose she just forgot it was in her purse but seriously, MACE? my hand soap is a threat but you can't keep the Mace off the plane?

If people don't get to see the images then how do they determine if you had anything? All seems like smoke and mirrors to me. It's a machine they don't need. Everything was fine before it. I'm willing to go back to the way it was before 9-11. Way to big of a hassle to fly any more.
