Call me a rebel I dont give a damn but who do you think founded this country? People who layed down and took it because its the "law"? I think not.

Thats the problem with this country is that if you see something wrong, fuck it turn your head and keep on moving.

The EMT did the right thing. The cop stated he was under arrest(abusing his power) everyone else on the scene knew it was bullshit. Why do you think he walked away?

If it would have been a regular citizen all hell would have broke loose. Even though he might have been tazed and taken to jail at least he made his stand and did not act like some french pansy.
I think the problem is that you have trouble figuring out how to fight a battle. Resisting arrest adds charges, escalates the issue and brings more trouble down on you. Going with the flow, hiring a lawyer, winning your case and cleaning that municipalities clock afterwards is more my style. You stand a much better chance of winning if you fight it the right way. Once a cop tells you that you are under arrest you are under fucking arrest. You are not going to win buy fighting with him. So under your mentality everyone should be fighting the cops at every opportunity. Oh wait, only the ones that didn't do anything wrong. How many people admit they fucked up? Jason, there are a bunch of people in prison because they thought they new the law better than others.

You ever heard of medicaid Kracker? If not then please go do a little research on it. If you are on medicaid and need transport then you get close to a free ride. Maybe there is a $20 copay but that is about it. When I was doing my rotations and rode with private companies 80% of our day was comprised of driving people from their homes to a nursing home or dialysis. 99% of those transports were medicaid but had no way to transport themselves. Those rides cost between $300-$500 if the patient did not need O2. They were transported not because they were not able to drive but because they did not have a car. Check to see who funds medicaid. Read up on the difference between medicare and medicaid.

All that said, this lady may have been a millionaire or she may have been on medicaid. She may have had a sucking chest wound which none was excited about or she may have been a dialysis patient. The ambulance driver may have been driving a normal speed trying to do his job, going signal one because she was hurt or going signal 1 to pick up a dialysis patient because they wanted the thrill. Regardless it seems like they about crashed the cop. Once again, in 1994 private ambulance vehicles were not considered emergency vehicles under Alabama State law. The same goes for first responders and volunteer fireman in POV's. I cant speak to Oklahoma, Texas or the other States and will not attempt it. I can just about guarantee that a state trooper has the right away over a private ambulance in all states.

My other observation when I was doing these rotations is that 25% of the private EMT's did it for the good of man, 25% did it because in their mind it was good pay especially if they were already a full time fire fighter and 50% did it for the rush. I saw countless times where the driver would roll signal 1 because they wanted to cut through traffic, run lights, speed and drive aggressively even when the call was not an emergency. Some of these smaller ambulance companies run roughshot. We do not know how many run-ins the cops had with them. We are just bashing the cops at first opportunity based on 3:10 of tape.

    Nuck
I knew your ass would take it to the extreme stating everyone should fight cops.

    Very lame counter.

    Use common sense.

Either way, if a cop tells you that you are under arrest your outcome will be 10X better if you comply rather than fight. There are only a few extreme cases where that would not hold true and this aint one of them.

Go cook me something, make mine rare
