I'm impressed that this Russian blogger would care so much to be so angry about what's happening in America. If it wasn't for the references to his own country I would have thought he was from the US.

He's right though. Much of our society is complacent and easily soothed and swayed by mere words.

We, the people, are not being represented in any way shape or form. There may that one rogue out there who tries to bring up issues that the people he represents want changed, but who is truly going to listen to him in D.C.?

Money controls D.C. Hell, money controls the world. If you make more money catering to the lobbyists than to your constituents... why would you even give a shit about what the "little people" think? Oh, sure, it's possible you might get voted out of your position... but with enough money to throw around, even that's not gonna happen unless you really fuck up (by getting on the bad side of those lobbyists.)

It's pretty goddamn depressing that so much of what that Russian dude wrote is true.

    BINGO!!!
That sharp edged rogue as you call them, goes to Washington, tries to stay the course with new bright ideas, then learns the ropes (becomes a professional politician), and gets grinded down to a round shape to fit in the political machine.
I personally feel very little representation in DC, or my statehouse for that matter.
I'll just throw this out there....TERM LIMITS. I think this will help deliver a better representative, and gets rid of the professional politician.

I'm not saying the State shall own thy business crap, but i mean keeping companies from being able to become some super uber company.

If a Toyota failed would it affect use as much? unlikely because they aren't a super-corp. If Wal-Mart failed would it fuck up the economy ten fold? you better believe it.

Again do we really need one car company thats makes 18 different brands of cars (And each brand having a even larger product mix) or could we have managed with say Pontiac and Chevy as one company.

Personally first thing we need to take a look at is how to make it so the government has no reason to step into the private sector again. There is a reason McDonalds does well, the corporation doesn't own KFC, Subway, Arby's and Cold Stone. They focus on their product mix, and further they don't have to prop up another business.

With GM, Lets say Pontiac makes 10,000 dollar profit last quarter. Good right? Well if Chevy loses 30,000 dollars last quarter then GM lost 20,000 dollars. All you need is one brand to have a SHIT SHIT SHIT year and you coud be in hot water all of a sudden.

Add this to Unions now being the Blue Collar Mafia basically, no longer are they looking out for worker safety or making sure they aren't getting screwed. No they want a business that say is losing 30,000 a month, to pay the janitor 15 bucks an hour. And they strong arm them into doing it because if your only scraping by, you can't afford to shut down product for however long it takes til the Union gives up (unlikely) or you have to concede or go under (more likely)

I realize i'm all over the map so i'll give a sum up.

Basically i feel the problem for the U.S. is we allow companies to become too big as long as they are good little boys and girls and don't use underhand tactics to gain an edge. A smaller company, with 2-4 brands would (IMO) have a better chance of succeeding then a big company with 17-18 brands. Or be a big company focused on one brand (McDonalds), and you also will have an easier time to succeed. Add to it that the Unions force companies into high wages and abnormal benefit programs, and a wide drop is consumer spending and things are going to go shitty
So basically your saying it's good to be an american but the government should limit what your earning potential could be. Gm bought those companies in an effort to become a bigger more profitable company. Of which worked for decades.

So what is your responce with the oil and electric. These are as big as it gets. What should we do? Quite obviously they are making money. Should the government step in and split them up? They have 1 focus as you suggest.

Personally I feel you were just ranting about GM. If it was more than that then you would of probably put something in there about the banks. Seeing as they are in trouble to.

Or i could just point out that GM has one focus selling cars regardless of what name is on it. It would of just been easier for you to put out there that GM priced themselves out of business. My 07 f-150 fx2 cost less than my 99 z-28. Then of coarse people can say I matched a sports car to a truck nevermind the fact the mustang has been cheaper to buy than the camaro for what 20 years.
It doesn't hurt your profitability by splitting companies up, if thats the case then ma and pa stores would never exists because they must be too small to make a profit.

But apparently you like Big business, so don't bitch when it has to be taken over by the government just to make sure our economy doesn't go into the shitter. Think its bad now? wanna tell me what it would look like if the LARGEST Banks FAILED, if GM FAILED? Now compare that to if Xerox FAILS? or AT&T FAILS? Interesting how a smaller bank can go under, smaller companies can go under and no biggie.

But in America if it isn't a super duper all-in-one company then its bad and need to go buy the rest of the fucking world to make money and then we have to bail it out because its bigger then the fucking world
