    Spelling out words for children

Lately I've been having to spell out D-O-R-A unless my daughter goes on a rampage to find Dora the Explorer anything at any store.

Just curisous, how many parents use this trick and how long does it last?

not a parent but seems like it would be a good way to have your kid learn spelling, eventually they ought to be able to use cognitive skills to put together the sound of the letter and what it looks like and thus form a word.

Of course you should spell it D-R-A, afterall no one spells properly in this day and age. also make sure to give a W00t! when something good happens and a Pwnd when something bad happens. The kids of the future need to learn this important information!
