They were always my favorite when I was in high school as well. But that was like 5 years ago so they all have crazy high miles on them now.[quote author=...bigdog... link=topic=81507.msg1197022#msg1197022 date=1268327193]

another thing, if you have a mechanic you know and trust, have them check it out. You don't want some underlying hidden problem that will end up costing you $k to fix - I learned that the hardway. Fell in love a 1981 RX-7 with the speed, how it handled, how it looked - but failed to learn it had been underwater. Major electrical problems started cropping up about 6 months after purchase.
Also had a 1980 280ZX and loved that car all the way through college until a knuclehead pulled out in front of me and it was totalled..

Good idea...I may ask if I can take it to my families mechanic...not really family....but the only one we trust.

116k better make sure the timing belt has been replaced. If it slips your looking for a new engine. With that exhaust system who ever had it before probably beat the crap out of it. Not that I can judge I beat the crap out of my car everytime I get in it. I don't know how you are with cars but I don't shop for looks. I shop for what it could be when I'm done with it.
Right now I'm looking at a 68 tbird. Not a big fan of the body style but it does have an original 428 in it.

Like primer suggested, if I can get him to let me take it to the mechanic, I'll have it checked out.
