Re: New car...sorta
I just can't buy in to this whole manual thing. The newest manumatics do a very good job and really shine in the curves. You lose about .3 - .4 0-60 but you gain a ton of freedom. I spend 95% of my time driving normally so I have no desire to be working a clutch and changing gears. I also think that has something to do with age. When I was toung I thought manual was the way to go. I am not young any more.
That being said you should have lower chance of a major failure on an older car with a manual.
I do agree with the others bust, that car looks like it has had the shit driven out of it. It is a buyers market so you may be able to purchase it for less than asking price.

Looks aren't everything you know. My car has a few dents and scratches on it, did I drive the shit out of it? Hell no. Wear and tear...wear and tear.
Maybe I am speaking too soon, maybe too defensively, but you can't judge a book by it's cover, for a car made in 92...it's in great shape.
Like I said, I'll test drive it and get back to you guys on it.

And Bust, I'm not ragging on the interior or exterior wear and tear, I'd be concerned with the engine. Turbos increase the heat and pressure in the motor substantially. If they're not taken care of, it can be a major issue. Even putting standard oil (as opposed to full synthetic) can damage them because the dino juice can't stand up to the heat of the turbos. There aren't any bearings in most turbos, they just use a very thin sheet of pressurized oil. If the motor is rode hard and put up wet, that oil can burn quickly, and you have all kinds of sludge problems. Hell, even new turbos tend to burn oil faster than non-boosted motors.
Also, if you have to finance anything there, walk away. Go talk to your bank, not the dealer. You'll get better rates, and most banks will effectively hand you a blank check to write to the dealer, so you should get very little hassle.

Sup man. I recently bought a 93 MR2 Turbo and love the shit out of it but I did a lot of work to before buying the right 16 year old car. Chances are, the engine has been beaten up and one or more people probably had A LOT of fun in it. Thats okay though because it sounds like they replaced some stuff. I'd really ask them to give you the documentation of the stuff they said they replaced. Also, I'd get a compression test. Find a local tuner shop, pay them like $50 and ask them to check it out for you.
Actually, the best thing to do is find the Nissan Z forum, I'm sure its massive. There is probably a local section where you can find guys near you that are experts in THAT particular year. I bet you can find someone to go with you to the shop and check it out. Maybe you can shave $500 of that price or something.
Or if you really want it just drop the cash.

I understand that, it just appeared as if you were trying to deter me from the car...which wasn't going to happen. I have parents who also have bought cars, and gone through plenty of lemons...I'm sure I was able to buy the car, they would make sure it checks out first.
Also, it wasn't directed at you, more of the people who were claiming it's not worth it because of what the car LOOKS like.
I know none of you have any current specs on it, but if you were about to buy a car, and I told you it's not worth the money, and buy something else instead, wouldn't that piss you off, or is that just something I do?
