My dog got skunked
So, my dog managed to get himself sprayed last night though I don't think he got the full spray, but he still stinks. Sadly I didn't realize he'd been skunked until I put him out this morning and my hand came away smelling like skunk after touching him. The whole house had smelt strongly of skunk since the windows had been open, so you'll have to forgive me for not detecting skunk dog on top of skunk house any sooner.
Anyway, I'm looking for solutions and found this site.

He says tomato juice is just an old wive's tale and recommends washing with Listerine or this concoction:
1 quart of hydrogen peroxide
¼ cup of baking soda
1 teaspoon of dish soap
Does anyone else around here have experience with removing skunk odor?

Found it. According to Adam and Jamie, the hydrogen peroxide+baking soda+dish soap is the way to go.
I've also heard toothpaste for any left over smell, any thoughts on that?

Re: My dog got skunked
Hmm, my dog has been sprayed twice, but we just gave our dog a bath, and didn't worry too much about the smell because the house stunk SOOOO bad anyways. I remember it stunk downstairs, and my dog was sprayed in the back yard and hadn't come in the house yet. I'll ask my mom, may be she remembers what we did, the peroxide thing sounds familiar.
