    steam "download starting"

i didn't know where to put this since this isn't a hardware issue.

my TF2 and day of defeat have been frozen for over 24hours now at the update, where it says "download starting" but doesn't actually start.

i've trying MANY things. closed steam and opened it again. i've paused it, and started again. I've verified the integrity and defragmented. I deleted the client registry blob....everything! i've even deleted local content to download it again....only to have it download for a few seconds then go back to "download starting".....HELP!

I'm not having any issues, but try what he's talking about on page two:

delete the "multiplayer ob binaries.gcf" and restart steam, it should update fully.

Yeah, TF2 was giving me a bunch of shit so I just uninstalled and left it reinstalling when I left for work tonight.

Still, first time I've ever had a major problem with a Source game. Valve 1, EA 4592.

Try a different download region in steam and see if the problem persists. File-> Settings -> Download Tab -> Region

I had a tough time with the Chicago one and switched to Atlanta for the AA3 download and it worked.
