Re: Seriously? 15 DUIs?
Here (Texas) 3ed DWI is a felony. People get DUIs and DWIs mixed up. A DWI is a class B. DUI is a class C.
When I was 18 I got pulled over for speeding. I had been drinking a little. But I was driving fine. Now, two years later, as of April, I was found guilty of a DWI. I submitted a breath test because my license would have been suspended 90 days, versus 160. Spent 14 hours in jail. Bail was $2,500. I got a bond. I blew a .11.
Taking it to trial was a nightmare. Most nerve racking thing I've been through. Not worth it, call a cab.
Punishment:
15 months probation $53.00 every month.
15 months of interlock (breathalizer in my car) $75.00 every month.
90 more days of suspended license.
Fine and court fees come out to a little over $1,000.
24 hours of community service
Drug and Alcohol evaluation $35.00
Some other thing that costs $85.00
And another class that I havn't done yet.
Lawyer $5,000.00
To much of a punishment for the first offense ever? Hell yes! I've had to put my life on hold and pay for all this. Had to get a full time job and quit college.
Was it worth it? Not at all!
$10.00 to crime stoppers
