I didn't say what he did was admirable. The subject is his efficiency, and well........ he was efficient. Everythingelse you have said, I agree with. But alas, the subject is this guy actually commenting on Hitler's efficiency.
I agree that Hitler got things done. However when you express admiration for Hitler's efficiency you are also expressing admiration for the manner in which he obtained said efficiency, which was horribly amoral.

Note that he says in the article that democracy doesn't work. That kind of 'pro-fascist' sentiment is what I object to.

If you want to get things done in the quickest, most efficient way possible, you just ignore all the special needs and concerns and just pluck the duck instead of trying to smooth all of those ruffled feathers.

Now, that might mean homicide or genocide and all kinds of other bad things, but hey... you got it done, didn't you?

My very limited understanding is that in a dictatorship, only one guy (and it's almost always a guy) is making all the decisions, even if he's using others to help him carry out those decisions. In a big convoluted government like we've got, you've got a bunch of people arguing and dicking around before any decisions get made, which is probably really inefficient. It probably helps prevent things like genocide, but it's not terribly efficient :P

But under normal circumstances that delay gives time for the people to be heard.
Democracy, or in our case, representative democracy, did not do much to prevent the near genocide of the indigenous people of North America.

We, in the US, have gotten past some of that built in delay ( Stimulus Bill ) and are leaning in more dictatorial direction with our representatives voting on bill that they had not only not read, but wasn't even printed ( Cap-n-Tax).
Powers learns from it's mistakes and 1 man rule, while efficient in some ways, is far more vulnerable to displacement ( impeachment, coup ) than the mob of seeming idiots we have running the place now.

The whole purpose of a bicameral system is to allow time for the checks and balances to work.
But if you are patient and take a long view, that system can be evaded and avoided.

Yeah, I wish more Americans cared about their country, paid attention to what was going on, and had a pride in the great things this country has to offer. Not that you would understand, being a Canadian.
heh, Unfortunately the evidence you were putting forth contradicts your point. In fact it supports the idea that questioning your government is healthy to the society.
