Hmmm, I can't honestly say I've learned all that much about it except topical knowledge. I've covered more of the well known bosons in Modern, which is a graduate level topical class meant to provide a good introduction to all things in Modern Physics, but I didn't have room in my schedule this last year for Nuclear, which would've covered it a little more.
Up to this date, the particles I've focused the most on are light (I'm interested in entanglement) and electrons (understanding hopping is important for the electrical side of nano-research).
If I recall correctly though, the CERN accelerator has about a 50-60% chance of finding it? I know the one at Fermi Labs has about a 60% (and increasing) chance due to some interesting advancements I've heard about, but most of this is listening to my professors who work at both facilities talking about it (so trying to catch things in between the acronyms they start throwing out).
The Higgs Boson is believed to be what gives particles their mass and will hopefully explain how some particles can be small yet massive and some large yet light.
I think my professor Dr. Wobisch published some research earlier this year that was supposed to help put some values to some of the smaller dimensions that relate to Higgs fields. I can't recall if it was ever finished being peer-reviewed...he mentioned during class one day that he had 500 peer reviewers.
I'll be learning more soon in order to begin examining color charge theoretically. I'll see if I can ask my advisor, Dr. Lee Sawyer, but I think he's still in Europe. He's involved in ALICE if I recall.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.
