What the hell is this country coming to? The fuckin loonies are taking over. We can openly burn a flag as a part of free speech...but put a cross in the desert of California, and some whack-job from Oregon throws a tizzy, and he has never been affected by it at all....never even seen it. They don't consider it free speech,historical..nothing. How does a cross on a rock,in the middle of nowhere, constitute a state -sponsored religion? Sad and pathetic.
Don't question them. They are only doing what is best for us. We MUST believe them...

My hunch is that the Supreme Court, if it takes the case, will find that little tidbit important. I think the Court will remand the course on the issue of whether that Oregon numbnut has standing to bring the case.

The fact that we have to hope for that is what is wrong. Common sense, and decency seems to have gone out the window. Those poor old veterans should not have to worry about that....they certainly deserve more respect.

The Constitution says Freedom of Religion ........... NOT Freedom FROM Religion ! Dammit ! The same thing goes for Anchor babies of illegals. The baby is automatically an American citizen if born here........ it doesn't mean the Whole Damn family gets the same treatment !

The question isn't so much freedom of religion as it is government endorsement of any one specific religion, which they are supposed to avoid (but have managed to let it appear in different places around the government.) However, the military has kept precedence in using crosses for military memorials and what not, so basically the case is challenging that precedence. At this point it is more historical than anything, regardless of religious imagery.

As for freedom FROM religion, that is another debate for another time...

The military predates the United States and is governed by its own laws a la UCMJ.
