8. Christian Theology. the trust in God and in His promises as made through Christ and the Scriptures by which humans are justified or saved.
The "church" per say is an institution... see Catholic, Muslim, Buddist etc. However, "Religion" is not the same as the "Church".
Websters again: RELIGION
–noun
1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
2. a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.
3. the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.
4. the life or state of a monk, nun, etc.: to enter religion.
5. the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith.
6. something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience: to make a religion of fighting prejudice.
So the whole "he's wrong, she's wrong" bickering is a moot point because neither side can prove the other wrong (due to lack of evidence). In the end... it's up to you to believe what you believe and let bygones be bygones. No one is right or wrong... they just have their own PERSONAL beliefs.

Again, I'd say the difference is that science accumulates evidence for or against a theory (technically they can only accumulate evidence which disproves the theory? Doesn't make sense to me but that's what they're saying in the other thread) through experimentation.
With a religious faith, you don't really perform experiments to gain evidence of God's existence, or Allah's existence, or Yahweh's existence, or whatever. You just read what amounts to your religion's holy text(s) and maybe do a little critical thinking about it and talk about it, and that's about it.
