    Re: Town Hall Meetings

I totally disagree with the healthcare plan, but I dont agree with how a lot of people are going about protesting it. You protest outside a building by doing this kind of shit. You can even protest hate speech that way by drowning out stuff that shouldnt be said. You dont protest a two sided issue by being the loudest bunch in the room. By being a mob, they only lend credibility that its more about organized protest by bigwigs and less about pissed off constituents. You want to show how many people in the room dont approve the healthcare plan? Have one person stand up clearly into the microphone and ask for a show of hands how many people dont agree. They cant hide that, they cant run away from the room at that, they have to address it. This gives them an excuse to make Obama-style townhalls, where the audience is screened, the questions staged, and the result one-sided.

See Callous and Red Lobster? You can be a conservative and have a sense of dignity, as exampled by SJA's post. Although he and I are on different sides of the debate, I agree 100% with what he said in regards to the actions of the mob at these meetings.

This gives them an excuse to make Obama-style townhalls, where the audience is screened, the questions staged, and the result one-sided.
Especially this part. We see where pre-screening your audience in order to gain attendance got us in the past decade, I didn't like it then, and I wouldn't like it now, even if I most likely agree with the present administration.

    Mob mentality gets mob justice.

Hey I am sure when our country was on the brink of revolution in 1770's they had assholes who backed up the king and called these people "mobs"

The American people obviously are fed up with the way our government is spending (and has spent) their money. So they voice their opinions the only way they can....writing letters, going to town hall meetings, protesting, etc...

If people are gathering and comitting violent acts, then arrest them according to the laws set up. Otherwise, let them agree or disagree. No need to put out a commercial calling the American people "angry mobs organized by high level republican operatives". I mean really? You can take the word republican, and replace it with any party, and it still sounds ridiculous, even if the shoe were on the other foot.

It's a shame that when citizens disagree with your point of view as a majority in the house and senate, that you resort to writing it off as people being sore losers about an election.

I'm just glad to see people actually out there showing concern for everything, regardless of who's in charge.
    shhhhhh

    Everyone has their part.

I am sure these trolls spilled the blood of those hot tea sipping punks.

Or we can all be like hawg sip some wine, take small bites of their cheese, and laugh at the peasants below.

The Republicans are turning into Monica Conyers sound alikes. If they think being Billy Badasses is persuasive then they need to think twice. They sound like this broad.

That was sarcasm since Obama has been likened to Lincoln more than once.
It was also a set-up since I was hoping somebody would say this guy said it....

The town halls have been set up to get the result the pols want.
    The mob.
The chanting, was probably started by the union agitators.
But in the larger sense, it is a debate.
It is clearly not a Lincoln-Douglas debate and a nation scale these town halls are one side presenting their argument.
IT is now up to the other side to respond.
    And they have.
By claiming any one who disagrees and doesn't do that by funding some lobbyist group is destroying democracy.
I wouldn't want to sit and hear prepared statements that don't answer questions, that is the political equivalent of chanting NO.
It is not an exchange of ideas, it is preaching.
Well the choir is in rebellion.

It's getting harder to fool the people....
