Need some car pricing advice
Well since my Nissan Pathfinder is coming close to 200,000 miles I thought it would be a great to time cash in with the "cash for clunkers". Since I didn't have any problem with Nissan I thought I would continue with the same maker. This time I was going to get a Nissan Altima 2.5s since its good on fuel and roomy enough for me and my friends. Of course most people have seen the commerical about the price about Altima at $13,900 after rebate and trade in "cash for clunker", but most prob never read the disclaimer about it and of course dealership will not sell at manufacturer's suggested price. So we found the Altima 2.5S at $26,400 after rebate and trade in it would cost me $20,400. Of course I brough in my Dad since he has experience with haggling with car price. At my disbelief my Dad got the price to go from $20,400 to $15,900 and of course my Dad told me to just walk away and tell them we will think about it. Now the question is, is this a good price? Of course I am still doing my research but just wanted to get the opinion of the people here since there are some bright ones . Also keep in mind that I just paid my way through 4 years of college, if ya wondering why I try to knock it lower.

Re: Need some car pricing advice
its a 2009, they didn't have any 2010 (don't know if Altima 2010 are out yet in dealership). kbb has it around 22k but of course thats from the manufacturer's suggested price and we all know profit runs the business. So as of now I've seen the price of the Altima 2.5 S range from 20k to about 28k. So far its looking like a deal to me.

Re: Need some car pricing advice
Car has:
Power Steering, locks, window, mirrors
AC
Antilock brakes
Rear and front disc brakes
CD player / Radio
Cruise Control
Keyless entry and starter (push button starter)
Pretty much the basic seen here:

I gotta say the keyless entry/starter got me a little happy at the shop. Also my dad is not a Jedi but has some mystical asian aura I think since he was also able to knock a 2010 Corolla S down to about 13k from 20k starting price but didn't really care for the Corolla..

Re: Need some car pricing advice
I'd say go for it. A brand new altima for 15.9K is pretty good. That's a nice brand new car in the high $200 range. Maybe low $300?
I read in the newspaper today that the cash for clunkers program was not going to last much longer. Apparently the government is taking way to long to compensate the dealerships since they are the ones fronting the cash incentives.
