    actually if your smart you spin it, instead of increasing taxes on junk food, you reduce taxes charged on healthy foods (probably would need to be done at a state level) I.E. tax-free on vegetables, but regular sales tax on Orreos, for example.

    Then you really are taxing them but it doesn't sound like it

    Actually if they are truly concerned with America's health, then that wouldnt be a bad way to go. But what's the point, if the government cant make money off of it right?

    in most states that have a "food is exempt from sales tax" law, things like cookies, candies, and drinks are actually taxable anyhow. pay attention to your next grocery shopping receipt and see for yourself if you're in texas. I call it the "this isn't food!" tax.
