My co-worker who said it sounds like the A/C system is about to go bad said the same thing happened to him. He simply reconnected it somehow or bypassed something, who knows, I don't know how it works and I didn't catch everything he said....
Oh yeah bypassing the heater core is easy. Take the 2 hoses off the firewall right next to the blower motor on the passanger side. Get a coupler from the auto parts store and connect one hose to the other. They even sell a bypass kit for it. Works great until you need your heater.

    ....I didn't have a heater or A/V in my 88 astro van.

Rebuilt the engine 3 times and the trany twice.

Fucking starter was on its 5 lift time.

Why would you rebuild the engine 3 times and the tranny twice? What the hell was going on that was causing that much damage.

yeah bybassing the heater core is easy. if you live in Texas or somewhere else thats warm it shouldnt be a big deal to go with out.

When your AC runs it is adding heat to pass through the radiator.(they are two seprate cores but the air goes through the AC core and warms up, the warmer air then goes through the radiator) Thus the radiator is less effecient, water will get a little warmer and any minor leaks are more likely to surface. Thats what happened to me at Quakecon and why I ended up changing a hose in Fry's parking lot. The heater core is high suspicion if your smelling it in the cab fairly strong. Hard to say, run the truck and get it nice and hot ac going and all. Then park on a clean spot of concrete and look for drips of antifreeze(the condensor will drip water as well) Check it over and see what you got.

    Re: Ford F150 A/C

1st time was when Dad still drove it. Put that cleaner shit in the gas tank and it broke apart a bunch of the grime and shit. We went and got donuts came back out to the van that had barely any gas in it, it sucked all that grim into the engine and clogged the fuel injectors.

2nd time was the first time the trany broke- Rusted and stripped out the gears completely.

3rd time was the 2nd time the trany broke- I was driving with my freinds and stopped at a stop sign, put it in reverse and backed up into a drive way to turn around and put it back in drive and a load POP and then the automatic wouldn't shift out of 1st. So the jackass that was a "machic" looked at it, stepped on the gas and blew the engine....

You want to know about the starter also?

    Fucking chevies.

    Yeah what about them?
Why would you rebuild an engine for the injectors being clugged?
I hope you didn't pay for the engine when the mechanic blew it up.
